Hello everyone,

Well I said that the site would return soon and it has done so, though unfortunately not as quickly as I hoped it would as I stupidly did not have a backup of cutenews, so all the previous site news has been lost. Though, as I said on the down time page, I was surprised that the site data was not migrated in the change of hosts, but I suppose that’s what I get for not looking into things properly. Had I known what was going to happen I would have made a backup onto my work computer so that I could then re-uploaded it right away after the server move had happened. But there we go, what’s done is done and I’ve learnt from it, so next time (though hopefully there won’t BE a next time) I’ll be ready.

So anyway what happened that caused this change of host?
Well I’ll tell you, for a while now I’ve wanted to be able to have MySQL Databases to mess about with, however with the host I was on (1and1.co.uk) I was unable to have any MySQL databases unless I upgraded to their £8.99 a month plan! Well unfortunately I am not prepared to pay that to only be allowed 2 databases. So I decided that I needed to change hosts, after much researching I found another company in the UK that had very good reviews and were very reasonably priced (£2.99 a month for a lot more features than I had). So after an evenings thought I decided ‘What the hell?’ and went for it.

So there you go,I am now with Express-hosting.co.uk and I am really pleased at what I can do with it so far and I haven’t even finished messing around with it properly yet :D

Anyway, the major revision to the site design is still coming and will be done shortly and once all pages have been migrated across to the new design the site will go live. After that I will then start editing the contents of pages and bringing the site into line with what I want from the new design.
