NEON LEGENDS - THE EVOLUTION OF A HERO

1998
A year later, while on holiday, I was doodling in a sketch pad I had bought and couldn't think of anything to draw. Whiplash suddenly popped into my mind, however I decided that I was not too happy with the way that he looked - I no longer wanted him to be a bounty hunter, I wanted him to be a hero instead. So I sat down and worked on re-making him into a hero character, an hour or so later and I had finished the new version of Whiplash - converting him into a hero, however I kept the original name as I liked it and could not think of anything else to call him at the time. As you can see from the image, he lost the hat and the evil look about him and became taller, got a new design for the face and even got a belt as well. I was pleased with how this new version looked in comparison to the old version, as it captured the hero feeling that I was after (at least I thought it did at the time - 1998 was a long time ago!). At this point I decided that I wanted to make video games and so I ended up deciding that I wanted to create a whole new world for Whiplash to live in and thus he was removed from the Sonic world , instead becoming a character from his own world - however that world lacked a name and a lot of other things that are needed - especially for a video game.
