Reed is about 5-foot 6-inches tall, he has hair like his cousin (Black with a white stripe down the middle at the back) - except that it is slightly longer, though the fringe is held up by a band that goes around his head, which also contains a couple of devices that he has attached to it and he also has blue eyes. Reed's main outfit that he normally wears when he's not working, consists of a red long sleeved jacket, with a white pattern on it, with a black T-shirt on underneath. He also wears a pair of dark blue jeans as well as a simple pair of red trainers with white markings on them. He also wears a pair of goggles that double up as a welding shield for his eyes (these are also attached to his head band).
About:
Reed is Brocko's younger cousin and is also quite different to Brocko, if not for the hair, most would not see the connection between the two. Reed is highly intelligent and is a technical whiz. Reed spends most of his time developing new inventions to aid him and his friends in some way - however there is an interesting thing to note about his intelligence...that is that no-one knows where it came from. Most of his family are not that technologically minded - certainly not in the way Reed is and what makes it even more interesting is that half the time Reed doesn't know how he is able to invent what he does, he just gets an idea in his head, collects the parts that look right and then builds whatever. He is also very good at solving logical puzzles and is a very strategic thinker... though most of the time he never get to show because of a certain couple of impatient people who rush off before he's finished working out his plan. Reed has never really had a huge demand for his technical skills, however with the events that happen to Brocko Reed decides to help him in the only way he can - by inventing things to aid his cousin.
Description:
Reed is primarily an inventor and spends most of his time building something, however beyond this he is very tactically minded and while may appear to be weak, is in fact the exact opposite. While he may not have any form of training like the others (as they assumed that he didn't want or need it) he is still very strong and is able to hold his own using a combination of weapons (sometimes guns, other times swords) and hand-to-hand combat. Reed also acts far more mature than most within the group (however that isn't that hard to do given that some of the group act with no maturity at all!), which has made him become more thoughtful and wise. He considers his moves before he makes them - which is not helped by the fact that the others don't, however he is able to adapt very quickly and based on what his friends have done he is able to form a different strategy... though some of the time it ends up as a bash-the-hell-out-of-the-enemy strategy. While Reed's life has been normal compared to Brocko's, he still has his own shares of problems, most of which stem from his own self doubt. He believes that, while he may be good at thinking, that that is all he is good for and he would never be able to help in a fight. As a result Reed does lack a lot of confidence in actually joining in a fight, however Reed looks up to his cousin for courage and inspiration, however if without his cousin he can take charge and can be just as good of a leader as Brocko can be - though it is not something he actually wants to be, as he is happier to follow than lead.
Role in series:
Reed is the main genius of the series and is always trying to invent something for one of them that will help them in their adventures. Whether it be a new weapon or a scanning device Reed is always making something and trying to help his friends. Reed is also one of the only characters that can actually make a PLAN. While Brocko, Retro and Phina are all ready to rush into a fight Reed prefers to hold back and think of a strategy - however most of the time he doesn't get the chance as the others (excluding Yuki) have already rushed headlong into whatever is happening.
Personality:
Reed is someone who loves to learn, he is interested in everything and loves to understand it as well. When it comes to technology he is very outspoken and has the last word in everything - however outside of this he is not quite a`s outspoken or strong, he finds it difficult to make his opinion on most things known and tends not to speak up much. However Reed is very determined and wants to prove to everyone (including himself) that he isn't a burden on the group and is just as capable of looking after himself in a fight. Reed tries to be optimistic (as it helps being a member of this group) and uses this to help him keep going most of the time - while he would be happy to stay out of a battle while everyone else fought he knows this isn't the way to show he can be counted on and so uses his optimism and his hidden confidence, as well as his technology, to help him. Reed more than anything wants to become strong and prove to his cousin that he can be counted on, though none of the others feel this is necessary.
Skills and Abilities:
Reed's main skill is that he can invent almost anything he needs to - though most of the time he is unsure of how he is able to make the items, but they always end up working. While Reed does have some knowledge in hand-to-hand combat is is extremely limited in comparison to everyone else and as such he feels weaker. However he is, in some ways, a far better fighter than the others simply because he thinks about his moves first, rather then just charge into this head first. He has a great tactical mind - though he rarely gets to use it, but he still has it. Reed also later develops the ability to use a skill known as 'Neon Signs' - which in turns ends up aiding him with all of his research and allows him to become stronger.
Weaknesses:
Reed's main weakness is that he doesn't have much faith in his abilities and strengths - feeling that he is only copying everyone else and is a hindrance rather than an aid to them.
Apart from this is the fact that Reed can get so caught up in what he is doing that he ends up missing something important. This can either be that he doesn't hear something that someone has said or that he misses an event and this has the potential to get him into a lot of danger, of which his friends help get him out of, which reinforces his idea that he is a burden, rather than an aid, to the others.
Extra Information:
Reed, unlike most of the others, has the ability to use 'Soul Energy' instead of 'Life Energy', while he is not aware of it, this affinity with Soul Energy is part of the reason for his intelligence. Reed has been inventing things for a long time without really understanding how - however as time goes on he begins to understand what he is doing and how things work and why they work. Reed's affinity with Soul Energy also allows him to learn a powerful technique that has been lost for a long time and after he learns this technique he is able to invent something to make it stronger - and he slowly starts to gain more confidence in himself and through both of the above he ends up becoming a vital and valued member of the team - and with good reason.
